A brisk market is often signaled by signs going up one day and coming down the next;and it is tempting to try to sell your own house. There are good books and good websites which outline the process in detail. Caution is the watchword, so do good research before placing ads.

 Pitch 2 - Hire a Broker to Sell

Some folks interview three different brokers. Most of the
experienced brokers enjoy a repeat and referral business, so you might just ask around. Talking to three different brokers might identify the one with whom you can best communicate. And be clear that you just want to talk to them about working as their broker. You can decide on price and what to do to ready the house for sale after you hire this person.

Sometimes folks try to sell their own house and hire 
a broker to help them find the new home.
