From
Warren...
"I started college as an art student at
the University of Georgia, later changing to landscape architecture and
have always loved the marriage of art and landscape. Much of my work is
done with washes of sepia and raw sienna, which seem to capture most earth
and building tones well. In contrast to my love of drawing urban street
scenes, I also love to paint rural landscapes in the southeast,
particularly the river and creek valleys of the Shenandoah Valley and the
North and South Fork of the New River in North Carolina and Virginia. Fly
fishing these same streams is another passion that I enjoy when I’m not
painting watercolors. It’s sad to see a lot of these rural areas being
destroyed by new development. I have noticed a significant decline in the
water quality of some of my favorite trout streams, and it’s very
disheartening. There’s a better way to build cities so they don’t
destroy our natural, cultural, and archaeological resources. Hopefully my
art can remind people of the magnificent rural and natural landscapes that
still remain, and their importance on the human psyche, not to mention
their ecological importance."
