has grown to the south and to the east primarily. On the west side
of the city neighborhoods have grown less quickly. One of the
reasons is the expansion of Charlotte/Douglas
International Airport, which has easy access from West
Boulevard…and which also brought airport noise and increased
traffic.
Another
look is being taken at the west
side because of affordable land values. I-485
will spur further growth in this area both residential and
commercial. It will, however, not reduce airport
noise as a cautionary note. Older neighborhoods feature brick
ranches, larger home sites, unpretentious. New construction seems to
favor first time homeowners.
