Strikes: Traffic and the airport

Profile: Southwest Charlotte/Lake Wylie. Mostly home to industrial parks and new office buildings. Residential development has been slow because of the airport noise corridors. Mix of industrial and residential. Pineville has some great mill houses and back streets.

Lake Wylie, known formerly as Catawba Lake up until 1960's, was formed from the Catawba River by a dam built between 1924 and 1926. Most of its 325 miles of shoreline is in South Carolina. In the section also is McDowell Park Nature Center, a campground, a 1,000-acre park and nature preserve as well as Carowinds straddling the state line.  Pineville has a picturesque historic downtown. Traffic is dense and slow.
