Lake Wylie, known formerly as Catawba Lake up until 1960's, was formed from the Catawba
River by a dam built between 1924 and 1926. Most of its 325 miles of shoreline is in South
Carolina. In the section also is McDowell Park Nature Center, a campground, a 1,000-acre
park and nature preserve as well as Carowinds straddling the state line.
Pineville has a picturesque historic downtown. Traffic is dense and slow. |
