Queens
College
"Three original buildings facing
Selwyn Avenue in Myers Park were part
of the campus plan of town planner John Nolen of Cambridge, Mass. Nolen designed the
prestigious 1911 neighborhood of
Myers Park and also many other cities, campuses, and
towns in early twentieth century America. The original neighborhood design included a
boys school and a womens college. Queens College, which moved from uptown
Charlotte in 1914 changing its name from Presbyterian College for Women to Queens College,
remains a vibrant educational facility. The boys school did not survive.
