of houses sold for the six-month period through the Carolina
Multiple Listing Services -- the agency that serves
Mecklenburg
and surrounding counties -- was 7,412, up about 10 percent.
The busiest ZIP
code was 28269, where 792 homes sold for an average of $158,891.
That ZIP code stretches from Interstate 85 north of uptown
Charlotte
northeast to the
Cabarrus
County
line. It includes such popular neighborhoods as Highland Creek,
which was the busiest neighborhood in the county -- again.
Highland Creek, a
collection of villages with homes at different price ranges, also
was the busiest neighborhood the past two years. For the first half
of 2005, 160 homes sold in Highland Creek for an average of
$196,234.
