Condos and townhouses offering a
range of prices

Condos and
townhouses are soaring in popularity in
Charlotte
and
Mecklenburg
County
, offering more choices -- at more price ranges -- than ever.
At midsummer,
3,044 condos and townhouses were listed in
Mecklenburg
at an average price of $173,927. Popular areas include Ballantyne in
the south,
Lake
Norman
to the north and
Charlotte
's booming center city.
In fact, uptown
Charlotte
has proven so popular it has its own MLS listing area: Area 99. At
midsummer, 152 condos and townhouses were listed at prices from
$105,000 to $1.7 million.
During the first
six months of 2005, 1,782 condos and townhouses sold through the MLS
in
Mecklenburg
County
, up 24 percent from the same period in 2004. The average closing
price was $166,801 for units sold through the Carolina Multiple
Listing Services, up a little more than 1 percent.
