• The Manor House, a 34-year-old
extended-stay motel at
2800 Selwyn Ave.
, has changed hands.
Charlotte
's Eastern Federal Corp. and its affiliate companies recently paid
$2,895,000 for the 72-unit main building, three quadraplexes and their
2.5-acre site.
Motel operations have ceased.
"We want to develop something
that -- in terms of its use and appearance -- matches more closely the
character of the surrounding
Myers
Park
neighborhood," said Eastern Federal CEO Carter Meiselman.
Eastern Federal owns the Colony
Shops next to the Manor House and the Selwyn Shops diagonally across
Selwyn Avenue
.
Meiselman said Eastern Federal
will demolish the Manor House buildings in preparation for redevelopment.
Specific plans are in the works.
"We feel certain the
community will respond positively to an improvement over what's currently
there, and we are looking forward to working closely with the city and the
neighborhood to determine just what that improvement will look like,"
he said.
