some instances, their appreciation surpasses single family homes...and in
others, like a burgeoning market...values are tentative.
Cotswold Gardens span the ages in more ways than one.
Always a good value because of location, brick, gardens.

With all of the great programs for
first time home-buyers and the interest rates, young marrieds can
get into a condominium or townhouse sometimes with a few dollars
down...good credit and good employment go a long way. |
Families
While I have seen smaller families,
one or two children, I do not see that many family
complexes...except in the larger communities where the amenities
include kiddie pools, tennis courts and playgrounds.
If there are no amenities to speak of...where do children play? |
Empty Nesters
Whether a couple with children who
have flown the coop or a couple who travels, shuns lawn work, more
interested in the grass on the other side of the gold course or
continent...there are some pretty spiffy, elegant condominium and
town home communities...and in Charlotte, a price tag of a million
dollars or so is not uncommon. Where is the glitz? St. Serrant, The
Crillon on Fenton, Edgehill, 400 North Church, Chapel Watch for
starters. |
Active 55+
The boomers are changing the way we
might think about a maturing population...Active 55+...Usually two
car garages, vaulted ceilings, steps are not a problem...luxurious
kitchens and master suites...room for the grandchildren to
visit...courtyard and elegant entrances and grounds...and all the
variations in between.
Where are they? Avington in Matthews comes to mind... |

Retirees
Maybe the gneration before the
boomers...worked until 65 or so...disbursed the family
furniture and antiques...looking for everything on one floor,
smaller more efficient space, showers that are easy to walk
into...quiet. There are many NORC around Charlotte. NORC is the
government's classification for Naturally Occurring Retirement
Communities. Versailles, Franciscan Terrace, Sardis Cove, Cotswold
Gardens off the top of my head. |
